Meaning of PE engine trouble code is a kind of powertrain trouble code and when your car's 'PE Check Engine' light comes on, it's usually accompanied by a sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach. The light could mean a costly problem, like a bad catalytic converter, or it could be something minor, like a loose gas cap. But in many cases, it means at minimum that you'll be visiting the car dealer to locate the malfunction and get the light turned off.
The crankshaft sensor signals the fuel injection computer or the ignition control when the cylinders are firing. This causes the ignition coil to provide a spark and the injector to inject fuel into each cylinder at the right time.
If either sensor isn't working correctly, the car will run rough and the engine will be less efficient. In later car models, the car's computer can usually keep the vehicle running, but the engine warning light on the dashboard goes on to warn the driver. Is the fuel pump sometimes not priming when you turn the key to ON II?
Start by measuring the fuel pressure and checking whether you have bright white-bluish spark at all four plugs. The mechanical timing is also something that you should check, as we mentioned above.
PE the main thing to check is to verify the operation of the VCT solenoid. You're looking for a sticking or stuck VCt solenoid valve caused by contamination.

To read the existing faults on the Volkswagen cars release afterthe diagnostic cord and the program installed on the computer or laptop are used. On many machines, for example, Golf 4 or Passat B5, a self-test of the systems was applied with information displayed in German or English on the instrument cluster screen.
For the first time such a function was installed on the 4th generation Golf cars in No manipulation is required to read the error codes. When the engine starts, it polls all the systems and control units of the vehicle. If a malfunction is detected, information about it is displayed in text format on the screen and is complemented by a flashing or lit indicator. In this case, the signal may be yellow or red high level of importance color. Messages of high importance are complemented by a triple beep, the rest - once.
For example, if the oil level drops, an inscription will appear and the oiler icon will flash. If you are unable to remove the error yourself topping up the oil, coolant or windshield fluid or filling the tankyou should carry out computer diagnostics of the car, which will allow you to accurately determine the cause of the fault.
On earlier machines before releaseerrors can be read by a tester and a light bulb, which flashes the fault code in flashes. In addition, there are lots of highly specialized programs for reading and adjusting data in separate electronic blocks of machines. For example, in the instrument cluster or transmission control unit.
On Volkswagen cars of various years of release, various fuel injection systems were installed, so the type and location of the diagnostic connector can vary. The 80s Golf and Jetta cars with Bosch Mono-Jetronic fuel injection system have a single-pin diagnostic connector installed next to the ignition coil. The pin is red-white or yellow. On a similar machine system Passat, this wire has a yellow-black insulation.
Since Aprilthe Passat B3 has been equipped with a two-pin connector located under the cover below the climate control unit. On later machines, the connector began to be placed at the feet of the driver or passenger sitting in front. To read the VW error codes on machines with a single, double, or triple connector, you must:.
In addition to the diagnostic methods described above, on Volkswagen cars of release, it is possible to conduct a separate inspection of the microclimate system on the display of a single-zone air-conditioning unit. On more modern versions of the control panel there is no such function.
On vehicles with electric power steering such as Sharan, error may occur, indicating a failure or incorrect values of the values from the steering wheel position sensor. In this case, the instrument cluster may light up a fault indicator in the power steering. Such a problem can occur on any machine with an anti-lock system, including the Touareg. On the most recent models, for example, on the 7th generation Golf, an error BB occurs due to the oxidation of wires in the plug of the airbag sensor and the increase in resistance in this contact.
The problem is fixed by cleaning the contacts and covering them with a protective compound. A frequent malfunction on Polo Sedan or Tiguan cars is error It usually occurs when a large electrical load is turned on while driving in urban traffic. It is expressed by a warning beep and the ABS lamp is turned on in the instrument cluster. After restarting the engine and reducing the load on the network, the problem does not arise again. This error indicates a voltage drop in the on-board network due to the discharge of the battery or damage to the wiring area.Forgot your password?
Hello all, I have a problem with my car, namely with the DSG or clutch. I am hoping someone might have some answers or help for me. I recently had the DSG map applied to my car and all was going good until one day I was driving on the highway at about KPH and all of a sudden the car revved to redline. I slowed and then accelerated again and the car did the same ting, it was fine in fifth gear, but wasnt good in sixth.
I pulled into the nearest service station, thankfully it was within one KM, and then the car just acted really weird, from standstill in first it would rev then jump and kept repeating this, then a warning that revers gear was not available.
I stopped and turned the engine off. The guy who did the DSG map was local to me so came along and returned the DSG map to stock and all seemed to be ok, except now the car was very clunky in changing gears, but only from 1 to 2, 3 to 4 and 5 to 6.
I was able to drive the KM home, although the DSG changes were not very pleasant for the gears as above. I took it to the local VW dealer the following day and got them to check the gearbox oil and replace it, it was about 1L low.
After this the car still had the clunky changes making driving VEY uncomfortable for anything over a couple of KM. I again took the car to the local dealer and asked them to have a look into this, so left the car with them. They were unable to do any work to the car, saying that the DSG software was the wrong version and so their computer was unable to read it nor were they able to update it with an upgraded version, they then sent the files to Germany for their assistance.
At this point they were told to stop working on the car as the ECU had been modified They showed me the email conversation where VW Germany were able to confirm the mileage that the map was applied and that they were voiding my warranty.
Common Faults in the 7-Speed DSG Automatic Transmission
I got the car back with the same issues and a lost warranty grrr and so I spoke again to the guy who did the mapping, after a few days he came back saying that the car might get fixed with a clutch adaptation reset, so again I went to VW and got this done, which they were able to do through their computer and is not yet available through VCDS.
After the reset the car is a little better, but still reacts 'not right' on the same gearchanges as above. This is just a brief outline of what happened and what the car now does, I can give more details if required.
Does anyone have any idea what this could be and what is possibly required to hopefully fix the problem. I am not sure if the clutch opening unintentionally is related or a different issue, but the issue that is there now only started when the DSG map was returned to a default stock version, although VW said this was the wrong software.
Yeah really not good, but the morale of the story here is don't mess with factory stuff unless you are happy to accept responsibility and loss of warranty, even if the cause of the fault wasn't your own doing.
Hope you get it sorted mate, fingers crossed. Don't understand why you wouldn't want to say who it is. If it's one of the main tuners, others may end up with the same bad issues but you could help them avoid this. So is this officially the first real case of the TD1 flag I'm glad you've mentioned that as this is the 1st time I've heard of any mapped DSG going wrong. Spill the beans man, you are probably stopping everyone going to any tuner for DSG mods by not saying!

Yep, as advice above. By stating who the tuner is you could be saving someone else from the same heartache. I've heard of issues with APR. In my eyes that's just crazy!! Although I do believe their latest dsg software released last week has solved this issue. Time will tell I suppose! Abu Dhabi? The 7-speed DSG automatic transmission—or DQ—is a transmission that is growing rapidly in popularity. And with that growing popularity comes a growing number of people who may fall victim to some of the faults that can occur with this transmission. Unfortunately, the faults we have seen so far can be quite pricey to repair. The previous 6-speed direct shift gearbox DSG —the DQ—was a single chamber affair, meaning that all the components within the gearbox shared the same fluid.
This had the disadvantage that contamination from any component within the transmission could impact any other component within the transmission. The DQ made a lot of changes that brought about better efficiency and weight-savings over earlier models.
But the two most significant changes were separating the hydraulic system from the rest of the transmission, and moving to a dry dual clutch assembly. In moving the hydraulic system—the valves and solenoids and other delicate mechanical components that is the control centre of the gearbox—into its own enclosed system, the transmission has a greatly reduced chance of suffering a fault as a result of oil contamination clogging up vital components, since the only contamination that can get into that chamber would come from the components within.
Simultaneously, moving to a dry clutch assembly removed the biggest source of the aforementioned contamination from the transmission fluid altogether. It also made it so you no longer have to open up any of the transmission in order to change replace the clutch assembly. An unavoidable aspect of any clutch system is that it will wear down over time. The new dry clutch assembly in the DSG DQ is much more akin to a regular manual transmission clutch than the previous DQ wet clutch.
The control module for the transmission will attempt to adapt and compensate for clutch wear over time, however it will eventually reach a point where the clutch is simply too worn to function properly. Slipping will often manifest as the the engine revving higher than it should.
In extreme cases, it may not be possible drive at all. The way the dual clutch system works means that one clutch is responsible for odd-numbered gears, the other for even-numbered.
For this reason, having issues in all the odd or even numbered gears as opposed to specific gears is a big indicator that you have a clutch problem.
It requires special tools and a certain procedure that, if done incorrectly, will damage the new clutch, and can even damage the transmission itself. Due to the expense of the clutch assembly and the technicalities of fitting it, some manufacturers will only sell these clutches to fitters that have passed a course and are qualified to fit them.
This is the separate hydraulic system mentioned above. It is located on the side of the transmission—which is towards the front of the vehicle when fitted—and is a self-contained unit, meaning it can be removed entirely and replaced without having to dismantle any part of it. The mechatronic can be replaced within the module itself, however this is an involved task and requires manufacturer-specific diagnostic capabilities.
If the electronic component fails, unfortunately, it can manifest in a number of ways as it is responsible for all the actions that take place in the transmission during use. Failsafe will be the most likely outward symptom, but some diagnostic hardware will be required to get any more information as to why.PE Volkswagen Auto Trouble Code on vehicles with electronically controlled automatic transmissions, the shift solenoid is responsible for actuating the hydraulic circuits to activate clutches or bands that change gears inside the automatic transmission.
The computer notices the canister is empty when it detects a leaner condition all the vapors are used up and it resumes normal fuel delivery.
Some car manufacturers then close the vent solenoid but leave the purge solenoid open. That creates a vacuum throughout the entire fuel storage system. Once the correct vacuum is reached, it closed the purge solenoid and waits to see if the vacuum holds. Excessive air inflow can be caused by a vacuum leak, a dirty sensor or, an exhaust gas recirculation valve not closing properly. If the problem is not enough fuel, the culprit may be dirty injectors or fuel filters, a weak fuel pump or a leaky fuel pressure regulator.
The lean fuel mix error may be accompanied by rough idling, engine misfires, hesitation during acceleration and overall poor engine performance. With PE Volkswagen code so start with the basics like a fuel pressure and fuel volume test. Or, you can start on the electrical side by doing a voltage drop on both the power and ground connections for the fuel pump.
Some shops are reporting corrosion on the fuel pump ground that reduces power and fuel pressure. All auto trouble codes with car brands. I began noticing an odd judder when moving from 1st to 2nd gear, and then 2nd to 3rd gear whilst in full auto mode. I mentioned this when it went for its first service last week and VW decided to remove the gearbox and found one of the clutch packs was faulty and are now replacing both clutch packs.
Has anyone else had this issue and if so, is this something that is likely to bugger up again? The car has only covered miles and whilst I have heard of problems with the older DSG boxes I am starting to think that the new dry clutch packs could be the reason behind them messing up so quickly in the newer cars. Late last year it started having gear change problems, and a scan showed this. In Conjunction with Thank you very much for the reply, could you explain further as the above doesn't make sense to us. I'm pretty sure the gearbox specialist we're using has a manual for these boxes, although I haven't spoken to him since posting this thread.
As I understand it the mechatronic unit is a sealed unit with it's own hydraulic system and oil, totally separate from the gearbox oil, it is supplied pre-filled. We also changed the gearbox oil.
The manuals and instructions I've read have all stated not to spill any fluid out of the mechatronic breather when working on it or the gearbox as it can not be refilled.
